Big weekend for Laing Racing

Mar 09, 2018

Laing Racing is in for a huge weekend at the track starting with the Group One Lexus Newmarket Handicap at Flemington tomorrow afternoon with outstanding mare Missrock and top sprinter Lord of The Sky lining up in this time honoured race.

Missrock was simply brilliant in defeat at her first start run back this preparation when a gallant third in the Group One Lighting Stakes to Redkirk Warrior and the daughter of Fastnet Rock only needs an ounce of luck to claim her first Group One victory.

Missrock will be ridden by top Tasmanian jockey in Craig Newitt who has already tasted success in the Newmarket with The Quarterback and the inform hoop will be 'ready to rock' on the mare.

The Laing stable have the evergreen and stable stalwart in Lord Of The Sky as a worthy back up runner in the Group One feature with the recent Standish Handicap winner drawing the poll in barrier one with top female rider Kathy O'Hara aboard.

Lord Of The Sky simply loves the straight course at Flemington and is going to run the race of his life tomorrow and can certainly bounce back from his Futurity Stakes run.

Its' UBET Adelaide Cup day this Monday and Laing Racing again will be at the fore with two runners in Double Bluff and Cuban Fighter.

Apart from his last unplaced run at Flemington Double Bluff has been in top form winning at Caulfield three starts ago and the Listed Geoff Torney Cup at Moonee Valley two starts ago.

Double Bluff will be ridden by the in form Mark Zahra and only has to go one better than last year to claim victory.

Cuban Fighter certainly looks a sneaky each way chance in Monday's feature down on the minimum as the horse was a gutsy win at Moonee Valley two starts and he will run the 3200m right out.

In other stable news Laing Racing bought a lovely colt at this weeks Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale by Rubick from the Flying Spur mare in Miss Provocative.

Purchased for $90,000 this stunning colt is all class and is from the first crop of the outstanding Group Two winner in Rubick from a winning daughter of the Listed placegetter in Flouze and from the immediate family of the champion mare in Triscay.

Please find below the link to the colt's pedigree and please enquire within for ownership opportunities.

In closing Rob bought a lovely staying colt by the sire he has had a huge amount of success with in Pentire, out of the three time city wining Fusaichi Pegasus mare in Shanpanichi.

This colt has strength all through him and the dam has already produced an 1100m winner in Easy Beast which shows there is plenty of speed on her side.

Please find below the link to the colt's pedigree, photo, video and please enquire within for ownership opportunities.

To all of our connections with runners over the weekend the very best of luck and to all of our loyal clients, Happy Punting and we look forward to seeing you at the track in the near future!!!
