Rob buys exceptional stand out Pentire colt- SOLD!

News Flash- this colt is as popular as we thought he would be and he is now fully sold .

It was love at first sight at the NZ sales this week when Rob secured the winning bid to purchase the magnificent black colt by super sire Pentire from the very well bred mare Thorena.

Rob has enjoyed amazing success with horses he has purchased over the last decade by Pentire. We have won millions of dollars from his progeny we have trained, including Group 1 races such as the SAJC Adelaide Cup and SAJC SA Derby and Group wins also in the VRC St Leger with Sir Pentire, Duke of Norfolk and Andrew Ramsden Stakes with Pantani and Grand National hurdle with Busby Glen. Of all the yearlings Rob has seen go through the sales by Pentire, this colt is the one that Rob believes could be the best so far and is already thinking forward to races such as the Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate. This colt is absolutely magnificent with the looks and pedigree to be a superstar. His Dam, Thorena is a grand- daughter of Denise's Joy and Thorena's Dam, Bolt Of Lightning, is a half sister to Joie Denise, the Dam of champion racehorses, Tuesday Joy and Sunday Joy.

This colt's breeding is one in a million due to the fact he carries the blood of Europe's best ever horse, Mill Reef, America's best in Secretariat and Australia's champion, Phar Lap. Mill Reef and Secretariat are easily indentified in his tabulated pedigree with Mill Reef featured as the Grand Sire of Pentire and Secretariat being the Grand Sire of Chief's Crown, who is Thorena's sire. The Maternal Grand Dam of this colt is Bolt Of Lightning, who is by the Aussie speed machine in Blazing Saddles. Blazing Saddle's Great Grand Dam is Raphis, who is a full sister to Phar Lap, being by Night Raid from Entreaty.

To add further excitement about the proven formula of this colt's breeding, he possesses the exact same cross as the super Pentire racehorse, Pentastic, whose Dam, Miss Minden is also a Grand Daughter of Denise's Joy. Pentastic won just under $2 million in prizemoney and was victorious in a multitude of Group and LIsted races and also placed in several Group 1 races including 3rd in the VRC Derby.

Do not delay contacting us about buying a share in the colt as he will be sold quickly. If you want a horse to take you to the top as an owner, then this could be the one. Contact us now for more information.

$230k Pentire Colt Tops Successful 2012 Select Sale
Friday, Feb 3, 2012
New Zealand Bloodstock's 2012 Select Sale concluded today at Karaka, with the Pentire colt at Lot 1096 providing a late highlight of the successful three-day Sale.

Out of the Zabeel mare Sunshine Gold, the colt from Haunui Farm was secured by Hawkes Racing, adding to the stable's total haul of seven yearlings bought from Karaka this week for $1.4 million.

Commenting on their sale-topper, Wayne Hawkes says they were initially attracted to the pedigree by a close relative that they had previously purchased at Karaka.

"We bought Luck of Smiling - the half-brother by Elusive City - for $40,000 as a yearling and he went up to Macau and he's about the fourth best horse up there.

"Dad took one look at this colt and said we had to have him. He's a better sort than Luck of Smiling and he's by a proven sire in Pentire so we were sold.

"We like the Pentires - we bought the highest priced Pentire in New Zealand last year for $520,000, out of Platinum Blonde, and we really like the way he is coming along.

"We always love coming to New Zealand and buying those kiwi staying horses and are really happy with what was there this year."

Hawkes Racing, represented at Karaka by John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes, paid a top price of $420,000 for the Zabeel colt at Lot 152 of the Premier Sale. This contributed to the team ending up in the top five leading buyers for the week.

Pentire has provided three of the top five prices of the Select Sale. The other two were the $170,000 filly purchased by John White Bloodstock for his Australian client at Lot 724, and the $170,000 colt bought by Cranbourne trainer Robbie Laing at Lot 1120.

Currently third on the NZ Sires Premiership, the Rich Hill Stud resident sire was represented most recently by the Group 1 Thorndon Mile winner Say No More last Saturday, in addition to multiple Group 1 successes by former NZ Horse of the Year Mufhasa.Pentire sires continual Group 1 winners with a fresh win in New Zealand last weekend in the Thorndon Mile.
