Welcome to Robbie Laing Racing

Robbie Laing is a licensed thoroughbred trainer based at Cranbourne, on the eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

Robbie obtained his trainer's license in 1980 and is a hands-on trainer who operates the state of the art training facility, along with his team of experienced staff.

A former jockey before weight gain took it's toll and a  keen sportsman, Robbie played VFA football for three years prior to taking out his license to train.  His Father, also a successful trainer was his mentor.  Robbie is best described as an unconventional trainer who has enjoyed Group One success with champion galloper Roman Arch (2006 Australian Cup), filly Perfect Bliss (1983 Thousand Guineas) and quality stayer Pantani (2004 Adelaide Cup & 2002 Sth Australian Derby).

Recently, Robbie won with first starters She's Got Gears and  Spectrolite at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day in consecutive years, both horses were selected by Rob.

Robbie's key ingredients to his success includes; patience, beach work, and the ability to successfully 2YO sprinters, stayers and jumpers.

"I believe in pushing as much into the horses as possible, at the same time identifying the balance and knowing when the level is right" .

Together with wife Rachael who is responsible for the owner liaison and office management, and a great team of staff and specialists Laing Racing is committed to keeping owners up to date on their horses race campaigns.
